ENSURING CHILDREN ARE SAFE IN SCHOOL

Please see below a summary of all the routes we are assessing to ensure children are safe in Ashton Park School.

GGLT NEWS ROUND-UP MAY 2020

What have we all been up to during the Lockdown?

Over the past few weeks, we as a trust and a community and a nation have experienced a lot of firsts. We are so
proud of our schools, our staff, our leaders, our children and parents, who have stepped up to help, innovate, lead
and simply carry on working during this time. Click HERE for a few examples of what we’ve been up to.

MENTAL HEALTH AWARENESS WEEK

18th-22nd May 2020

To mark the end of Mental Health Awareness week the staff at Ashton Park have put together a video message for all our students at Ashton Park...we really miss you! #staysafe

A quick message to start Mental Health Awareness Week..

Virtual Cake Sale

At Ashton Park we believe that supporting young people's mental health is more necessary now than ever and so to celebrate Mental Health Awareness Week we are challenging our pupils and staff to hold a virtual "cake sale" by baking for their families at home to raise donations. If you are able to help us by donating we would be very grateful!

OTR, which stands for Off The Record, is a mental health social movement by and for young people aged 11-25 living in Bristol and South Gloucestershire. OTR is a charity which is very close to our hearts as they have given considerable support to our pupils both in and outside of school. In the last year this has included running Mind Aid and Shameless groups in school, providing 1:1 wellbeing support, LGBT+ support from Freedom Youth and helping our young people to set up and maintain their own Equalities Group. Throughout the lockdown OTR have continued to provide high quality support online. If you are interested in finding out more about them and what they offer please have a look at the information below and their website. http://www.otrbristol.org.uk/

Thank you and stay safe

Ashton Park School 'Lockdown' Art Expo 2020

We wanted to show off all of the fantastic artwork that our students have completed at home over the first weeks of Lockdown. They have used whatever they had at home to complete assignments and at the same time create a little magic for all of us to enjoy. We at Ashton Park School are so so proud of each and every one of them!

More fantastic artwork from our Ashton Park students (and staff), completed at home just since Lockdown Expo 1 in April. They have used whatever they had at home to complete assignments and at the same time create a little magic for all of us to enjoy. The Visual Arts Dept received even more than last time, proving at times like this creativity is so important. Once again we are so so proud of each and every one of them! Sit down with a cup of tea and enjoy! You can also watch our first Art Expo on this channel.

GGLT Secondary School Head Teachers update

I am sure that you were all eager to hear the announcement from the Prime Minister on the next steps on coronavirus Sunday evening. The statement signposted, in the broadest of terms, the beginning of a phased period for the reopening of schools with an indicative date of the start of June for Reception, Yr1 and Yr 6 in Primaries and an ambition that Year 10 and Yr 12 ‘will get at least some time with their teachers before the holidays.’ The GGLT Headteachers have met to discuss the announcement and the implications for our schools including staff, parents and students and have published an important letter on our school website in response. For now, for Ashton Park there is no change and we continue with the established routines we have developed over the lockdown period. The letter can be read HERE

Ashton Park School is now closed with the exception of children of key workers

For the list of Key Workers please click here

We respectfully ask that you ONLY send your child to school if this is your only
option and there is no safe alternative. The in-school provision is the last resort for
ensuring that key workers can continue to contribute to the national response. All
children should be socially distancing in the same way that adults are.

Mental Health and Wellbeing During School Closures

Many young people and their families may be feeling anxious and worried during
school closures. It can feel scary and isolating but you are not alone.

Remember that it is as important to take care of your mental health as your physical health.
