Curriculum – Key Stage 3 – MFL

The core purpose of learning a language is to be able to communicate with others. Our intention is to build core communication skills,
allowing pupils to reach out to others by learning to introduce themselves, to ask and answer key questions and to describe the world
they see around them. They will do this through four key skills, using their newly acquired language with confidence, creativity and
spontaneity. Along the way, pupils will discover the common roots of their mother tongue and other European languages as well as the
intriguing differences. The more technical aspects of language learning will allow them deepen their knowledge of their own language. As well as learning to express themselves in a foreign language, we aim for the lessons to be a gateway to other cultures and points of view, allowing pupils to explore different ways of life and to build them into citizens of the world.

Links below will take you to knowledge organisers showing the content for each of these units. These are being developed over the period 2019 to 2021.
