We have been working with a wide range of employers to establish the types of skills and qualifications that they are looking for in prospective employees. This information has helped us put together our offer of level 2 and 3 professional vocational qualifications.
The most consistent message that comes from employers is the need for candidates to have that little ‘something extra’ that makes them stand out from the rest. Increasingly universities are also recognising the quality of a student’s personal statement when selecting from a field of applicants.
We have developed a programme of activities that we feel will give our students ‘the edge’. All students in our sixth form will be expected to take part in a wide range of opportunities designed to develop their skills and employability.
We will be working with a wide range employers committed to our work and activities will include:
- Work placements and visits
- Personal development and challenge activities (outward bound, rock climbing, adventure sports)
- Professional mentoring
- Interview and CV writing skills workshops
Furthermore a programme of Literacy and Numeracy will be available for those who need development in these areas.
