Stranger Sagas: success for our students!

Over the summer term, a number of students entered Young Writers’ latest mini saga competition, called Stranger Sagas, and we’re delighted to announce that our students are being published in Stranger Sagas – South West Mysteries. This is a great way to showcase our school’s creative ability, as well as boost students’ confidence and enjoyment in creative writing.

82 stories have been selected from Ashton Park School!!

Young Writers has been publishing children’s poetry and creative writing since 1991. We will receive a complimentary copy of the book once it’s published, which will be available to view in the school library.

If your child is being published, a letter will be given to them over the next few days. Please remember to give permission for the work to be included – you don’t have to order a copy for your child to be included, but you do have to give your consent for the work to be published. Please refer to the letter you’ve received to see how to give permission, make any changes to the typeset proof and/or name and the deadline this is required by. If you have any questions you can contact Young Writers directly on 01733 890066 from 8am to 5.30pm Monday to Friday.

Published students are then in with a chance of winning a prize, plus the top schools win prizes too! We’ve thoroughly enjoyed taking part in this competition, students have been inspired and motivated.

If you’d like to continue to encourage your child to enjoy creative writing more at home, do have a look at an array of free resources on the Young Writers’ website – – this includes writing workshops, creative activity packs, book reviews and guest author interviews.

We look forward to seeing our students in print!
