On Tuesday 10th July 2018, the Year 10 Future Quest group visited London for their final future quest trip of the academic year.
Leaving bright and early, students travelled up to London before finding the perfect location next to the London Eye, overlooking the River Thames, where the group watched the Royal Air Force centenary celebrations that were taking place that afternoon.
After taking some time out for lunch, students then took a sightseeing trip down the River Thames to observe the various buildings that make London’s skyline so unique.
Students then visited the Houses of Parliament, listening to debates in both the House of Commons and the House of Lords, whilst a tour guide shared stories about the building’s past. Once the tour was complete, students took part in a Parliamentary workshop which ended with Karin Smyth, MP for Bristol South visiting the group for a Q&A session about life as an MP.
Once the workshop ended, students hopped back on the bus for the journey back to Bristol.
It was a fantastic day out to London, which was enjoyed by all. A huge well done to Year 10, who were fantastic representatives of the Ashton Park school, as well as a big thank you to South Bristol Youth and Mrs. Jemmott for their support during the visit.
